New Jailbreak iOS 7.1.1 Untethered Utility In The Works? Pod2g’s Quote Explained - iOS Following Apple’s release of the iOS 7.1 evasion jailbreak-patching firmware, and the companies follow-up iOS 7.1.1 release, a vast number of our readers either mistakenly updated, were forced to update or purchased devices already running 7.1.1. Previously, as with years past, it was thought and widely accepted that the evad3rs would wait until Apple’s next major iOS installment (iOS 8), and the company’s next round of iDevices before pushing out a new jailbreak utility to the public. It makes sense and it’s the logical move, as that way the team can ensure that their tool not only supports the latest software, but also the newest hardware.

Now, a plethora of new reports have flooded the jailbreak end of the blogosphere as of late that suggest pod2g is actively working on discovering new vulnerabilities to be exploited in a public iOS 7.1.1 and 7.1.x jailbreak tool. Apparently, expert hacker pod2g of the evad3rs Dev Team was quoted saying the following  “weeks ago”:

I think that something’s possible. It depends on when it happens—I mean if we have a jailbreak in one month, for sure we will release it. If it happens in 3 months, we might have to wait for iOS 8. But I’m definitely on it, definitely trying to find something.

While the team, specifically pod2g, could certainly uncover new exploits that lead to a jailbreak prior to iOS 8’s release, it’s unlikely at this point.

Considering the above quote was transcribed weeks ago and recently publicized, it’s already past the hacker’s time “one month” timeframe, or at least closing in on it, and it’s likely that the team will still wait until iOS 8.
