Remember, the heroes of the jailbreak community, the developers, are doing this for FREE - most of them even have full time jobs! Just like the iOS 6 through 6.1.2 evasi0n utility, the iOS 7.0.2 jailbreak will be released, these things take time! In this article, we’ll help you to fully appreciate the magnitude of the coding required to create a jailbreak for 7.0.2.
Last night, p0sixninja (quondam leader of the once-great Chronic Dev Team) sent a tweet to his followers that contained slides from his HITB2013, or Hack In The Box, SHAttered Dreams presentation, which can be found here. During the conference, legendary hacker p0sixninja shared details regarding his work, and the work of others, from the beginning of his time on the jailbreak scene to more recent times.
Included in the talk were mentions of Pwnage, Pwnage2, 24kPWN, the exploitation of vulnerabilities, jailbreak payloads, SHAtter, BBS and heap segments, 0x40 byte limits, SHSH memset, a multitude of head-dizzying code and so much more across 95 slides.
Although p0sixninja’s presentation is more than overwhelming for those who aren’t overly familiar with coding, the work detailed is actually a fraction of what’s required to create a jailbreak. Not to mention the fact that his SHAttered Dreams talk covered the days when A4 devices (the iPhone 4, the 4th generation iPod touch and the original iPad) were the latest on the market - development is inconceivably more complex now with all of the devices that must be accounted for in a jailbreak (A4, A5, A5X, A6, A6X and A7-powered iPhone, iPod touch and iPad models).
Without getting too technical, SHAtter was a potential bootrom exploit that was eventually shelved in favor of Geohot’s limera1n exploit. Upon the Chronic Dev team’s greenpois0n release date announcement, Geohot rushed to be the first to release what he thought was a jailbreak powered by the same exploit as the Chronic Dev team’s SHAtter-powered greenpois0n tool. In the end, it turned out the two were vastly different - limera1n was far superior, as it functioned on all current devices, not just the A4-based ones that SHAtter supported.
The moral of the story? When talking about jailbreak development, nothing is static - surprises can occur where they are least expected. As previously mentioned, the evad3rs will deliver, all members of the group have proved themselves time and time again - it’s a complicated process and the team wants to ensure that everything functions properly with all iOS 7 devices.

Hello, i am having an issue with my iphone 5 on 7.0.3 Whenever I try to check my credit by pressing *124# before it used to show me credit on screen but after upgrading it to 7.0 to 7.0.3 it doesnt do that. Now it start calling on that number which even includes * and # I hope you guys understand what I am trying to say just try this on any iphone which is one any firmware lower than 7.0 and then try it on firmware after 7.0 you’ll understand what i am trying to say.. Apple kindly fix this issue…
I dont understand why all the whiners out there are nagging the Evasi0n team for JB where they have clearly stated why. They are deliberately not released to ensure that their JB works on ALL i devices, thus resulting in a complete PWN of ios 7, which can prevent apple making software changes in time for new ipads. In a nut shell, the longer you wait, the longer Jailbreaks will be around. You have lived this long with ios 7 with no jailbreak, im sure you will live a little longer.

My jailed iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.2 is nothing like a regular phone. My iPhone is exquisite and fantastic in every way and if you do not enjoy your jailed iPhone then why don’t you sell it and buy what you consider to be a better phone but don’t sit there and make stupid dumbass remarks like this and expect to go unmolested. All of my jailed iDevices kickass in everyway and my Android “equivalent” devices just can’t compete when it comes to polish and usefulness.

You cant do that you need your own individual SHSH blobs its basically blobs from cydia for the available downgrade for you, thats why sites like evasion dont offer downgrades, you can use an application to help you downgrade using SHSH blobs called tinyumberella.

iOS 7 is out of beta and you don’t need a dev account. Put your iDevices into DFU mode and connect them to iTunes and restore and let iTunes automatically download and install the latest version of iOS 7, currently 7.0.2. I’m not going to go into further details as everything you need to know is a quick google search away. Just Google iPhone DFU mode.

I myself completely understand why a jailbreak takes time, and appreciate that the hackers are performing a community service that they aren’t getting paid for, that they have to balance with having lives. With that said, I love how these ‘updates’ are essentially rehashings of the same thing. I remember a dozen articles earlier this year that basically all said “Apple patched the vulnerabilities in 6.13 and they aren’t going to make a jailbreak until iOS 7″, over, and over, and over again. Now they are making a dozen articles earlier this year, where they basically find different ways to say “iOS 7 jailbreak soon, but not yet.”, along with links to videos explaining the same thing. I mean, bored much?
I’ve been jailbreaking my idevices ever since iOS 4.2.1 The developers give up countless hours to give the world an up to date jailbreak. I appreciate what they do because they are doing this work for free. They don’t have to do what they are doing because they are releasing a jailbreak to billions of people, that is completely free. And it was gone. I had no alternative, you can’t restore to the same version because the firmware isn’t signed. I backed up my SHSH blobs and everything; but still, couldn’t do it. So think twice before you post some shit like this, i’m in no rush to get a jailbreak. I check back on this websites posts every so often to see how progress is making. I don’t bitch “Hurry up with the JB i need free appz!1″ I understand what the teams are doing for free, and some people don’t respect that. It tooks long but I was waiting for a message as this of the DEV team. I don’t write much cause of my bad English but again I appreciate very hard the work. I’m still on the background on iOS jailbreak 6.1.2 and when the new jailbreak comes don’t act immediately. Remember the past and you will know. Since all of the great minds working on this are volunteers, what right do any of us have to complain about the release date? I appreciate all of their hard work. The only complaint I have is there is no way to donate and make sure the donation reaches the people who deserve and need it. I am sure the ones working on this project are giving up time with family and friends, and perhaps opportunities to earn $$$ elsewhere. THANK YOU!
Great article. I really think most people don’t understand how hard it actually is to “jailbreak” or “root” a device. No only does it take a bunch of very bright minds but it also takes timing. If the dev would release it today apple would patch what ever exploits they used to create there work of art and the new iPad and iPad mini coming out would be left un jaibroke. I haven’t posted before, but just wanted to convey my appreciation to the dev team for all of their hard work. MANY of us fully understand the complexities of finding a vulnerability and creating an exploit for the jailbreak and are PATIENTLY waiting. I find myself very frustrated with all of the knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers on here that demand the jailbreak NOW and even insult this site and the dev team because the jailbreak isn’t arriving fast enough for them. If some of you people here want the jailbreak so soon, go ahead and create it yourself! Oh, that’s right, never mind, you’re not smart enough to do it yourself, guess you’ll have to wait for those that are. Lastly, thank you jailbreak iOS evasion for your frequent updates and information. It really is welcome and appreciated.
