Home » Jailbreak iOS 9.1 » Jailbreak iOS 9.2 » Jailbreak iOS 9.2 And iOS 9.1 Update: TaiG vs Pangu, Who Will Jailbreak 9.2?
Jailbreak iOS 9.2 and iOS 9.1 Update, Pangu or TaiG, What To Expect - Last week, ensuing Apple’s patch of the Pangu jailbreak toward the end of October, the company seeded the first version of iOS 9.2 beta to registered developers. Yesterday, the second installment of said beta was pushed, being 9.2 beta 2, which was followed up today by the corresponding public beta of the firmware. Without a new jailbreak for iOS 9.1, could the forthcoming 9.2 release be the firmware jailbreakers will inevitably target and, in doing so, liberate millions of iDevice owners the globe over? Most likely yes! While it’s best to avoid using definitives when discussing jailbreak updates, the chances of a new jailbreak being released after iOS 9.2 is issued to the masses are very high. While we opted to skip coverage on iOS 9.2 beta 1 on Evasi0n Jailbreak, now that the second beta is released, we felt it necessary to create this page for you (our readers), as it will be constantly updated with new and fresh jailbreak developments! Continue reading past the break for jailbreaking after iOS 9.1, specifically iOS 9.2.
First, let’s discuss iOS 9.2 as a firmware - while the first beta of 9.2 merely made adjustments to the SFSafariViewController (what third-party apps utilize when loading web pages), iOS 9.2 beta 2 adds the following changes and bug fixes:
- Un-paring and re-pairing the Apple Watch will no longer cause the Stocks glance to go missing.
- Syncing Music to the Apple Watch has been fixed.
- An issue impacting audio quality when playing audio over USB in some car stereos has been fixed.
- A bug with iCloud Keychain has been fixed, so users should no longer see “Could Not Set Up iCloud Keychain” errors.
- Videos with ‘folw’ track associations will no longer fail to play on 32-bit devices.
- It’s now possible to dismiss the Safari View Controller with an edge swipe.
Additionally, iOS 9.2 beta 2 adds support for AT&T’s NumberSync, which expands upon Wi-Fi calling and enables other devices such as Macs and iPads to utilize the same number when not connected to the same network (very cool stuff)!
While iOS 9.2’s changelog is rather unimpressive when compared to 9.1’s, which added 150 new emoji characters and a number of other more noticeable changes, Apple is bound to add additional features to iOS 9.2 prior to its inevitable public release.
Pangu didn’t wait for iOS 9.1 and it was in beta, why would Pangu and/or TaiG wait for iOS 9.2 this time around? Great question! Essentially, when Pangu issued their tool to jailbreak iOS 9 through 9.0.2, they did so knowing the beta versions of iOS 9.1 closed the key kernel exploit the group utilized to achieve an Untethered jailbreak - i.e. it would be patched on 9.1 regardless of whether Pangu released it early for 9.0.2.
Unless a similar scenario presents itself with iOS 9.2, we can expect the groups on the jailbreak scene to, at the bare minimum, wait for iOS 9.2 prior to releasing any new jailbreak tool(s).
With Pangu having released the first Untethered iOS 9 jailbreak, the group effectively freed up TaiG to refine what they’ve been working on for iOS 9+ these past few months. Unless Pangu has additional vulnerabilities up their sleeve that they can use to adapt their tool to iOS 9.2, chances are good TaiG will release the next jailbreak, whether it’s for iOS 9.2 or a subsequent release.
That being said, as alluded to toward the beginning of this article, it’s best not to definitively state outcomes when discussing jailbreak updates - like everything else in the world, jailbreaking is influenced by a large number of in-play factors that can change at a moments notice.

Dan Aldrete Future reference, reboot with volume up to disable substrate, which will ALWAYS allow your device to boot. Then simply remove conflicting packages.
