Jailbreak 7.0.4 Over-The-Air Update Solution And 7.1 Jailbreak Complications - Today, the staff of iJailbreak Evasion elected to address a topic that’s a common question amongst our readers: whether it’s possible to jailbreak an iOS 7-based device that was updated using Apple’s over-the-air update option. Additionally, we’ll discuss the future of the jailbreak 7.0.4 evasi0n7 utility once Apple releases 7.1, the company’s forthcoming patch for the aforementioned jailbreak tool. First, it’s important to understand that while it’s possible to jailbreak 7.0.4 on a device that updated using Apple’s OTA update option, utilizing the current 1.0.5 edition of evasi0n7, said device will encounter serious issues.
Beyond experiencing random connection drop-offs, complications with iMessage and issues with nearly all stock iOS apps, iPhones, iPads and iPod touches that were updated using iOS’ computer-free over-the-air update ability, and then jailbroken, will sporadically crash on a regular basis.
As a quick sidebar, we recently confirmed that Apple’s 7.1 beta 5 firmware patches additional vulnerabilities in iOS 7 that evasi0n7 exploits to achieve an UnTethered jailbreak - consequently, it will be impossible to jailbreak the finalized firmware once Apple releases it to the general public.
In light of that fact, if your iDevice was updated via the OTA update option and you’re holding off on jailbreaking until the evad3rs release a revised version of evasi0n to jailbreak OTA updated devices on 7.0.4, don’t!
Due to the methods Apple employes to deliver wireless on-device updates, instead of simply restoring the firmware, OTA updates install the revisions in the latest firmwares as “add-ons,” making it impossible to successfully deliver the jailbreak payload without encountering future issues.
Knowing that the evad3rs will never enable the option of error-free jailbreaks for Apple’s over-the-air-update option, you’ll need to take action now if you wish to jailbreak prior to the release of 7.1. In order to prepare your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch for jailbreaking, you’ll be required to create an iTunes backup, restore to a clean install of 7.0.4, jailbreak and, finally, restore from your iTunes back-up - the pre-requisite jailbreak process is outlined in our in-depth UnTethered evasi0n7 tutorial.

Ray and eross, after you go in cydia through Safari, BOOKMARK it to your home screen and it will put the cydia icon there. Problem solved. And 2nd, I’ve OTA up to 7.0.4 (iphone 5)and ran JB right after release…. Not one problem. Also have 5c on 7.0.3. Again not had any problems.

I Tryed Restoring My iPhone 4S And iPod 5s To 7.0.4 But It Keeps Displaying An Error. (And I Haven’t Jailbroken!) What Is Happening?!
7.05 is the current live version, I think Apple have stopped singing 7.04 Jailbreak works anyway on a clean install of 7.05
Ray, when you go into cydia from safari, bookmark it to your home screen. That’s all u got to do.

iOS 7.1 would have been released in January had the eVaders waited till 7.1 was released to release their jailbreak we would all be on extremely stable devices but now we can have our stable but not rough behind the ears devices jailbroken or run jailed but extremely stable and finalized 7.1 devices. Damn. I wish evaders would have just waited. God damn crybabies is the only reason why we have what we have. I can only hope that community patches can smooth out the rough spots in iOS 7.0.4 and give us a small taste of 7.1 goodness with our jailbreaks intact.
I was on a legit 7.1 beta5. (5S) despite the warning each time of ‘no downgrading allowed’ now on 7.05 jailbroken. Restore to new install on 7.05 & jailbreak, disable ota. Warning, 7.1 backup will not restore under 7.05 so use iTunes to backup apps, photos, music etc first.
Just a note on the jb process. i have an ipad 3 that was jb on ios 6.12. When I jb my ipad 3 , and then restored from backup with itunes, my cidia was gone! I repeated the process, but it happened again. The phone appeared on iFunbox, but cidia was gone. I found out that other users had the same problem. So my suggestion is to bsckup, do s full restore (upgrade) to ios 7, restore from backup, and then jb. This worked fine for me.
Hey I am trying to jailbreak my iPhone 4S 7.0.4 with evasi0n and it gets all the way done but when I go to the screen cydia is not there evasi0n is still on the screen
Your device is OTA updated. I had the same problem. Restore your device to the latest IOS software with iTunes, and try again jailbreaking the device. It works
Reinstall appsync it will comes back
“In order to prepare your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch for jailbreaking, you’ll be required to create an iTunes backup, restore to a clean install of 7.0.4, jailbreak and, finally, restore from your iTunes back-up –” I done this process yesterday to my iPad. It has worked flawlessly, but the Cydia icon disappeared after restoring from my backup. Cydia is working if I go to safari and type cydia:// but that is the only way of loading it. Any instructions on getting the cydia icon back ?
I had the same problem - read my post above you for the solution.
No problem Wait for iPhone 6 or air & iOS 8 and its jail break THEN up grade from my iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4. It’s a beautiful thing right now!!
