Apple Releases iOS 6.0.2 Firmware for iPhone 5 And iPad Mini, Jailbreak Unavailable
Apple Releases iOS 6.0.2 Firmware for iPhone 5 And iPad Mini, Evasion Jailbreak Unavailable - Today, a day after seeding iOS 6.1 beta 4 to developers, Apple has released iOS 6.0.2 - an update solely for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Coming in at only a 51.4MB update (when using the Software Update feature), the new version of iOS 6 carries only one change over 6.0.1: it corrects “a bug that could impact Wi-Fi”.
As there’s allegedly a bug that affects Wi-Fi connectivity, some users who attempt to use Apple’s over-the-air (OTA) update feature may be unsuccessful. Alternatively, those users who encounter issues can easily update via iTunes.
While it seems rather peculiar that Apple would release a new firmware for just the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, causing seemingly unneeded fragmentation, it’s likely a measure to ensure that all users can update to iOS 6.1 using iOS’ OTA update feature once the firmware is released.
