Jailbreak iOS 9.0.1 Untethered; Apple Releases iOS 9.0.1, Can We Jailbreak? - This morning, in an unexpected move, Apple released iOS 9.0.1 to the public one week following the introduction of iOS 9 to the masses. Being the first update issued for iOS 9, the new 9.0.1 firmware offers minor bug fixes over last week’s 9.0. So naturally our readers are rightfully curious as to whether they can jailbreak iOS 9.0.1 untethered. First, before we delve into the subject of a potential iOS 9.0.1 firmware, let’s discuss the new release. Unlike its predecessor, which was the first release of its kind that added split view multitasking for new iPads, a slew of performance and battery enchantment, the ability to more quickly navigate through iOS, new Siri functionality, deep and integrated search and so much more, iOS 9.0.1 merely corrects several small bugs introduced by iOS 9 itself. Like with past iOS updates, 9.0.1 is available for immediate download via two flavors: as either an OTA (over-the-air) update via the Settings app or as a traditional iTunes update. However, jailbreakers should avoid iOS 9.0.1 like the plague - for more details on how iOS 9.0.1 plays into jailbreaking, continue reading!
While iOS 9.0.1 is unlike its predecessor in the sense of its lackluster improvements, its similarities lie in in security improvements. As with iOS 9, the new 9.0.1 release carries over Apple’s iOS 8.4.1 TaiG jailbreak-patching remedy, making the current tool virtually useless on the new firmware.
What’s New in iOS 9.0.1? As a quick, but related, sidebar, iOS 9.0.1 introduces the following changes (taken directly from Apple’s OTA update changelog screen) over 9.0:
- Fixes an issue where some users could not complete setup assistant after updating
- Fixes an issue where sometimes alarms and timers could fail to play
- Fixes an issue in Safari and Photos where pausing video could cause the paused frame to appear distorted
- Fixes an issue where some users with a custom APN setup via a profile would lose cellular data
So, now that we’re aware that iOS 9.0.1 remains un-jailbreakable using current tools, what about the next-generation of jailbreaks? Thankfully, this year we have triple the number of groups on the jailbreak scene. Whereas last year at this point we merely had one group dedicating their time and resources to jailbreaking iOS 8 (being Pangu), we have three major teams on the jailbreak scene this year, including Pangu, TaiG (responsible for the iOS 8.1.x and 8.3 through 8.4 jailbreak tools by the same name) and k33n (a group with experience hacking Apple’s mobile software).
To reiterate, we have no lack of talent when it comes to developing new jailbreak solutions. However, what we do have is an infinitely harder OS to crack into. This year, Apple decided to shake things up and implement a rather drastic security measure by the name of “rootless” in iOS 9, which obviously extends to iOS 9.0.1.
However, there’s quite a bit of misconception floating around pertaining to the aforementioned “rootless” term - it doesn’t refer to the impossibility of achieving root access (and in turn a jailbreak) on iOS 9, but rather Apple’s beefed up efforts to mitigate the former ease (if you could call it that, jailbreaking has always been challenging) of hacking their popular iOS. Remember, iH8sn0w was able to achieve a jailbreak on iOS 9, although not via a conventional or feasible method.
Will We Be Able to Jailbreak iOS 9 and 9.0.1 Soon? Currently, the status of a new iOS 9.0.1 jailbreak remains exactly the same as it did for iOS 9.0. Creating a new jailbreak for iOS 9 remains possible and we have more wicked-smart individuals than ever before aiding in development, though they may ultimately opt to wait for iOS 9.1 before releasing an iOS 9 jailbreak.

Is jailbreak hard to do? I’ve watched plenty of videos still don’t get the full concept. What if you have for example lets say iOS 9.0 then you jailbreak, can you not update to iOS 9.1 or will you have to re jailbreak? ????
You cannot update to iOS 9.1 without it being unjailbroken. You’d have to rejailbreak it with a 9.1 Jailbreak
I’ve tried one of evasi0n jailbreak’s and it was so easy to do, I hope that this jailbreak will be simple and easy as the previous one and you will have to re jailbreak it if you’re going to update your device.
It’s incredibly easy, there are an a plethora of YouTube tutorials. With that being said, there is some risk of you harming your phone if you install the wrong program, so put in your due diligence. Jailbreaking your iPhone allows you to unlock the full potential of your device while saving you money with unlimited free tethering and free paid apps. Hope this helps.
