iOS 8.4.1 Released, is it Possible to Jailbreak iOS 8.4.1 and Should I Update? - Today, following approximately one month of developer beta testing, Apple released iOS 8.4.1 to the general public. iOS 8.4.1, being the first general iOS release since the company issued iOS 8.4 to introduce Apple Music, is a rather unfortunate release for jailbreakers, as it patches the Untethered TaiG iOS 8.4 jailbreak that was released at the end of June. With a build number of 12H321, iOS 8.4.1 is available for immediate download either as an OTA software update in the Settings app or via the traditional iTunes method. However, those of you who are currently jailbroken on iOS 8.4 or earlier should avoid the new firmware release at all costs. The latest iOS 8.4.1 firmware is an incredibly minor release and, therefore, knowing that iOS 8.4.1 won’t introduce any noticeable features, updating to iOS 8.4.1 certainly doesn’t justify the loss of one’s iOS 8.4 TaiG jailbreak. Continue reading past the break for additional information pertaining to not only TaiG, but also how iOS 8.4.1 likely effects the jailbreak!
As of now, without an update to TaiG, it’s currently not possible for an iDevice to jailbreak 8.4.1 Untethered when making use of the latest jailbreak utility.
Concerning iOS 8.4.1 itself, as suggested by the firmware’s OTA release notes (which were unknown during the minor release’s extended beta testing period) the firmware simply corrects several small issues pertaining to Apple Music and Beats 1 Radio. Seriously, that’s it!
However, one disconcerting note as far as jailbreaking is concerned is the taunting link at the bottom of the aforementioned release notes that links to Apple’s primary software security page, which contains a document that confirms TaiG is indeed patched.
But, concerning iOS 8.4.1’s relatively small and meek Apple Music fixes, it’s recommended that all users who are interested in maintaining the current state of their device’s jailbreak on iOS 8 through 8.4.1 avoid the latest update like the plague.
Looking back, at the beginning of the year in January (when Apple issued iOS 8.1.3 to the public to patch the first TaiG jailbreak), 8.1.3 attempted to masquerade as a similar “bug fix” update, containing the same security link we see with iOS 8.4.1. That being said, in spite of what is the inevitable patch of TaiG for 8.4, Apple didn’t address all of the vulnerabilities, similar to what they’ve done in the past - i.e. select unattended vulnerabilities may be able to be “recycled” so to speak for use in a new jailbreak.
Without employing the use of too much conjecture, it’s conceivable that TaiG may have additional vulnerabilities stored that otherwise couldn’t be used on iOS 9 (due to its “Rootless security” measures), meaning we may receive another jailbreak for 8.4.1, though it’s incredibly unlikely.

Since I can’t upgrade without losing Jailbreak, is there any other way to reinstall Cydia? It is telling me I have 18 upgrades and when I try to upgrade, it gives an error(too long to put on here), but it basically states file can not be located. I’ve tried to do each individually, but every singe one gives same error. Anybody have a fix or at least familiar with this issue? Any help will be Greatly Appreciated!
