Beta 3 Released, Will TaiG Jailbreak 8.2 Post 8.1.2? Facts Examined!

Jailbreak 8.2 iOS

Apple Releases iOS 8.2 beta 3, Will TaiG Jailbreak iOS 8.2 Following Their 8.1.2 Jailbreak? - Today, ensuing all of the recent jailbreak news, including that enveloping the Untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.1.2, Apple seeded the third beta iteration of iOS 8.2, being of course 8.2 beta 3, to developers officially enrolled in the company’s iOS 8 Developer program. The company’s latest update is available for immediate download via one of two methods - either through Apple’s traditional Developer Center or as an over-the-air (commonly referred to as OTA for short) update through the default Settings app for developers running either 8.2 beta 2 or beta 1. Additionally, the new 8.2 beta carries a slightly revised build number over its predecessor of 12D5452a, compared to 12D445d. Seeing as the aforementioned jump in build numbers is incredibly minor in nature, it can be assumed that 8.2 offers little in the way of improvements over either of its predecessors. However, in contrast, the latest public firmware (being 8.1.2) is associated with a build number of 12B440. Such a drastic jump would indicate major revisions, improvements and new iOS 8.2 features - perfect for a jailbreak, right? Not exactly, as of now, 8.2 offers no additional features over 8.1.x, aside from the integration of the forthcoming Apple Watch, which is scheduled to be released in “early 2015”. With a release so far out, it’s certainly plausible that the public iteration of 8.2 will boast further improvements and additions. For now however, the 8.2 beta installments are mostly intended for iOS Developers who have their sights set on creating new and exciting Apple Watch apps - for said purpose, Apple has also seeded Xcode 6.2 beta 3 with WatchKit integration (Apple’s SDK or software development kit for the forthcoming device). In the end, the devices that will benefit most from 8.2 will unquestionably be the devices that can fully interface with the Apple Watch, being the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5. But how about jailbreaking? With iOS 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 completely jailbroken untethered by TaiG, will there be a new tool capable of jailbreaking 8.2 on all devices? For more on iOS 8.2 beta 3, including the potential jailbreak status of 8.2, continue reading past the break.

As stated above, there’s no denying that the Apple Watch, and integrating the device, is the company’s primary focus when it comes to iOS 8.2. However, the possibility remains that new features and significant improvements may be rolled into iOS 8.2 prior to the firmware’s inevitable public release.

When examining the latest release notes, iOS 8.2 beta 3 includes the following corrections over 8.2 beta 2, its predecessor: addresses a bug that caused opening conversations in Messages to take unusually long, added a missing emoji button in the iOS simulator and fixed two issues with WatchKit that caused strange behavior.

TaiG Jailbreak for 8.2
While iOS 8.2 is appealing to developers looking to enter the Apple Watch arena and get a head start on app creation, jailbreakers may have a slightly different outlook on the latest beta firmware as the changes currently aren’t noticeable to the end user, it almost certainly wouldn’t tempt any jailbreaker on iOS 8.0 through 8.1.2 to make the leap to said beta firmware. However, we’re aware that some jailbreakers may be curious as to whether 8.2 corrects or includes anything beyond what’s specifically stated in the latest beta’s release notes - if that’s the case for you, we cannot stress how important it is that you avoid the latest beta update regardless of your curiosity.

Although it’s too early to definitively state one way or the other, it’s highly probable that the TaiG jailbreak for 8.1.2 simply won’t function on 8.2, as Apple may very well patch the exploited vulnerabilities in their rumored forthcoming 8.1.3 release.

However, that hasn’t stopped jailbreak teams in the past. Following iOS 8.1.1’s release, which patched Pangu’s jailbreak for iOS 8 through 8.1, the TaiG group rushed to the rescue of all those who either mistakenly updated to 8.1.1 or purchased their devices running the new jailbreak-patching firmware out of the box by releasing a new jailbreak that functioned on 8.1.x and thanks to a number of updates, TaiG now follow support the latest public firmware: 8.1.2.

Moreover, the team also states that they plan on having “surprises” for the incredible jailbreak community in “every subsequent iOS public release” and that they already have a method to jailbreak the firmware that Apple isn’t aware of at the moment, meaning they likely have vulnerabilities stockpiled. Can they hold true to their promise? Only time will tell, and we’ll be here to update you along the way!

As of now, while iOS 8.2 will likely receive a jailbreak following its release, it’s good practice to avoid both beta releases, as well as the iteration that will eventually find its way into the hands of the masses, until we know for certain that such a utility will in fact be released.

For those of you who have yet to jailbreak and are running iOS 8 through 8.1.2, we strongly recommend following our detailed TaiG Untethered jailbreak 8.1.2 tutorial to take full advantage of the tool while the opportunity lasts.

  1. They say it’s already done. This comes directly from TiaG.com
“Due to complexity of JailBreak, we notice there are some doubts in media reports, e.g. Does TaiG support iOS 8.2 beta? What’s TaiG’s consideration to release it for 8.1.1? We would like to make some clarifications for these questions:
    1. In fact, support of iOS 8.2 has been completed by TaiG, as 8.2 is still at beta stage, we have disabled support for 8.2 in current public release.”
So according too them 8.2 Jailbreak is already done and they are just waiting for Apple to release 8.2 so they can’t patch like it if they released it now.

  2. Lucky unfortunately no I just borrow a friends pc and did it the first time for 8.1.1 and now have parallels 10 trial and did it for 8.1.2 it’s so dam easy

    1. Back your tweaks up with ” openbackup ” once u install new firmware , install that after jailbreak and it’ll restore all your tweaks :)

    2. Backups don’t work… I opted to go with PKGBakup because it seemed like a worthy premium tweak to save time. It was nothing more than a waste of $10… tried getting a refund, but crickets there. If someone can actually confirm a working backup solution I’d get it! Evaders says none of the backup utilities are confirmed working with iOS 8.
