iOS 8.1.3 Jailbreak And Release: How To Stay Jailbroken Before iOS 8.2

Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3 and Release, How To Stay Jailbroken - While recent rumors surrounding the release of iOS 8.1.3 (a firmware that’s widely expected to patch the PP and TaiG iOS 8.1.2 jailbreak utilities) had started to slow since their inception in mid-December when a popular site, MacRumors, reported seeing hits from iOS devices running 8.1.3 - today said rumors have been reignited. While there’s no doubt that the jailbreak for 8.1.2 will inevitably be patched, seeing as iOS 8.2 (the next major iOS release) is on the horizon and expected to be release in “early 2015” alongside the Apple Watch, such a patch may come sooner, in the form of iOS 8.1.3. It’s not a secret that a number of minor issues are still present in iOS 8.1.2, the latest public firmware as of January 25th, 2015. If Apple opts to issue 8.1.3, the third 8.1.x installment, prior to the inevitable 8.2 release, it’s all but certain that Apple will choose to patch the iOS 8 vulnerabilities exposed by TaiG in 8.1.3, like the company did in iOS 8.1.1 for those Pangu relied upon to achieve an Untethered jailbreak on iOS 8 through 8.1. Although we’ve provided ample warning, which is actually our primary reason for writing this article, as with ever year, some individuals will find that they’ve mistakenly updated to iOS 8.1.3 (provided the firmware is indeed released).

Whether iOS 8.1.3 patches the jailbreak, those who will inevitably update will effectively be locked out of jailbreaking.

Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3 Release And How To Stay Jailbroken Guide!

Let’s say 8.1.3, by some miracle, doesn’t close the vulnerabilities TaiG uncovered for the world to exploit, it would undoubtedly take the group a minimum of a day (as they’ve proven in the past when updating their tool for iOS 8.1.2) to ready TaiG for iOS 8.1.3. But, having said that, it’s likely that a release could be stretched - especially considering the fact that TaiG was created by a single developer: XN.

Now, on to the more practical of the two scenarios, if released and iOS 8.1.3 does indeed patch the jailbreak, TaiG will either opt to burn through additional exploits to jailbreak the minor release or hold off on releasing a new tool until  iOS 8.2, seeing as it’s the next major iOS 8 release.

Either way, the important part to take away from this article is that if you update, you’ll undoubtedly be locked out of jailbreaking for what could turn into a very pailful wait.

At this point, you may be wondering what can be done to prevent such an outcome. The answer is painfully simple: pay attention.

1. Turn your device off by holding down the home and power buttons together.

2. Upon seeing the Apple logo, immediately release and hold down the volume up button to force your device into Safemode (it’s crucial that you don’t release the volume button during this process until the reboot is complete).

3. Launch Cydia and uninstall all packages before either respringing or rebooting, whichever Cydia prompts you to do.

4. Confirm that your device is functional and then re-install tweaks one at a time until you’ve found the culprit - avoid it in the future.

Note: Crashreporter can be installed from Cydia to pinpoint which tweaks are being difficult (review available here).
