While iOS 7.1.3 Will Patch The Jailbreak, Those On 7.1.2 May Require The Update

While iOS 7.1.3 Will Patch the Jailbreak, Those on 7.1.2 May Require the Update - Today, prior to Apple’s forthcoming release of iOS 7.1.3, the staff at Evasi0n Jailbreak have collectively opted to write this article to provide valuable information for those who have their iDevices jailbroken on 7.1.x, especially those running iOS 7.1.2. While 7.1.3 isn’t currently available, and details surrounding its inevitable release are non-existent, the firmware is indeed coming and it’s almost guaranteed to patch the Pangu jailbreak 7.1.2 and iOS 7.1 utility. As of now, those who restore to the latest public firmware (being iOS 7.1.2) are still able to fully jailbreak any iDevice model, including the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, 5, 4S, 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, 3, 4 and the 5th generation iPod touch. Although the imminent iOS 7.1.3 release is all but confirmed to prevent jailbreakers from utilizing Pangu to jailbreak 7.1.3, the firmware itself may actually prove important for those jailbroken on 7.1.2 - in an interesting twist, iOS 7.1.3 may correct an issue that’s only seemingly present in 7.1.2!

As The Opportunity To Jailbreak 7.1.2 Closes, Apple Prepares iOS 7.1.3

While the Pangu jailbreak was a surprise in and of itself, seeing as the primary developers on the jailbreak scene (the evad3rs) were planning on waiting for iOS 8 to preserve valuable exploits, the utility has proved successful in undoubtedly jailbreaking millions of iOS-based devices.

Furthermore, in addition to the surprise that was Pangu, iOS 7.1.2 also came as somewhat of a welcomed shock when it was discovered that Apple had neglected to patch the vulnerabilities exploited by Pangu to jailbreak 7.1.x UnTethered.

iOS 7.1.2 Jailbreak Window And The Firmware’s Greatest Flaw

The latest news in the world of Jailbreaking - via iCrackUriDevice’s video update.

However, the streak of jailbreaking Apple’s latest public firmware may soon be coming to an end with the ineludible release of iOS 7.1.3. Moreover, a majority of those who updated to iOS 7.1.2, jailbreakers and regular iOS users alike, noticed that the firmware causes a peculiar and unnecessary battery drain for most devices.

That being said, when iOS 7.1.3 is eventually released, it will be a tricky situation. On one side, some may immediately update if the firmware corrects the aforementioned battery issue, while on the other, iOS 7.1.3 is almost guaranteed to patch Pangu.

Apple’s Forthcoming iOS 7.1.3 Battery And Jailbreak Patching Update

While the staff of Evasi0n Jailbreak strongly advises against updating to the pending firmware release, there may be a third alternative, if we’re lucky. During the days of evasi0n7, Apple released iOS 7.0.6 to correct a major SSL security vulnerability in iOS. Following the release of said security update, an iOS hacker created a package for those already jailbroken on an earlier version of 7.0.x that essentially applied a the fix on any of the older iterations of iOS 7. Although it’s impossible to tell at this point, it would certainly be great if the same principal applied to the rather annoying iOS 7.1.2 battery drain complication.

Of course while we’ll know more in the days to come, avoid iOS 7.1.3 to maintain your device’s jailbroken state and stay tuned for complete coverage on the upcoming firmware.

I’m on 7.0.6 iPhone 5. Is there a jb for this phone still or should I update to 7.1.2 to jb?

  3. Dr. Joepa says:

Still worth staying Jailbroken on iOS 7.1.2, than upgrade to patch 7.1.3. Fixes will be taken from the update and made available to those who stay put. Small issues and some minor bugs are a small price for being free. iOS 8 will be here soon enough. Hang in there. Dr. Joe

I am on 7.1.1 on iPhone 5S. Dont really notice any battery drain issue… so not sure to comment on 7.1.2 really…

  6. Tony V says:

I’m on 7.1.2 (only because I bought the phone and it came with 7.1) and I’m not experiencing any battery issues. Also, no issues with my iPad Mini on 7.1.2. Both Jailbroken.

  7. Jeannette says:

Stay on 7.0.6 because on 7.1.2 are some tweaks not complete updated. PhotoAlbums+ or even on 1 iPhone has iFile a issue. The battery drain is the biggest negatives issue. With iOS 7.1.2 I close almost everything as the article above is to read. I updated last week 1 iphone with an old 6.1.2 iOS jailbreak and other iPhone 7.0.6 jailbreak. I can tell everyone, if I find out how to downgrade to 7.0.6 I WILL DO IT. Note: a old dated iPhone as the 4S has a too small CPU and memory for updates as iOS 7.1.2. Indeed, believe what I say… I can know it because 1 week ago I was still jailbreaked on 6.1.2. It was a fast phone and with much tweaks that do not work on latest jailbreak. PEOPLE, I wait so long for updating because of the good working phone. I updated last weekend because I feels me not comfortable anymore in the view of the coming iOS 8. I was affright to find problems with iTunes and syncing etc. Ok .. My words most tell you everyone, do not what I did if there come in the future a new update … Wait and see what are the reviews. I was wrong, so with that said, I have no (shsh blogs) because I do not know how to keep this but if someone know how to downgrade to iOS 7.0.6 that would be great full. Than I can at least the old phone 4S downgrade and this one stay for ever on that iOS 7.0.6, I do not think iOS 6.1.2 is possible to downgrade. Again, I can not believe that an iOS 8 going to work smoothly on a iPhone 4S. I which everybody a good working phone, I hope my words where helpfully. Jeannette

Everyone was aware of the battery drain since 7.1 apple is using it as a tool to make everyone update. I bought myself a battery pack case Very handy anyways. I shut off location to apps except maps and in system location I only have the first two toggles switched on. I turned off all notification except phone and messages. And mail and all background apps except weather since I use statusbarweather. I may not even need that toggle on but I’m doing really good on battery. I’m going to try it today! I use auto brightness. turned off lte because I’m roaming on 1x but always keep wifi on. Couple glitches I hate is not receiving phone calls. I’ve had to call sprint and service update. I’m still missing calls when I’m driving. With good extended network (verizon) coverage. Back to the battery like I said its good I really don’t notice unless I’m being very picky but I don’t have stocks on or any clouds toggles except safari, keychain, reminders n contacts n of course find my iphone. I just see it as it would be just as bad with all location on background on notification on stocks, everything on basically on 7.1.3 and I’m happy with my 5s on 7.1.2. I really don’t trust apple though especially now. Thx snowden! Lol

So I’m on 7.0.6 jailbroken still… Should I update to 7.1.2 now or wait to see what happens?

    • TheEpicnor says:

It depends on what you want. I upgraded recently to 7.1.2 and many tweaks where not compatible, however biteyourapple repository made some work on ios 7.1.2. I don’t have many tweaks on my devices so I don’t know which ones work, but I can check for you. They battery issue started since ios 7 because when I was in ios 6 on my ipad I used it 80% of the time and kept it two days without charging.

  10. Big john says:

Came back to iPhone from android only to find out that a lot of the tweaks that I used before on iPhone 4 do not work for 7.1.2 and a lot of other stuff doesn’t as well so I see no reason to even have your device jailbroken
