iOS 6.1.2 Released, Evasi0n 1.4 Jailbreak 6.1.2 Update in Progress
Evasi0n update will Jailbreak 6.1.2 UnTethered - Following the recent iOS 6.1.1 iPhone 4S-exclusive firmware, today Apple has released iOS 6.1.2 to the public for the following iDevices: the iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3Gs, iPad mini, iPad 4, 3, 2 and, finally, Apple’s iPod touch 5G and 4G. The new 6.1.2 firmware was issued to address an exchange bug that was detailed last week. Interestingly, the 6.1.2 update doesn’t correct a major iOS lock screen security flaw, which leaves users’ phone log vulnerable. Like iOS 6.1.1, today’s 6.1.2 release is on the smaller side of iOS updates, weighing in at a mere 12.8MB for Apple’s over the air (OTA) update. Additionally, the build number has been updated for most iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models to 10B146, save for the cellular-capable iPad 4 and iPad mini models, which carries a build number of 10B147.
Jailbreak 6.1.2 Possible Through Evasi0n 1.4 Update
The following iOS 6.1.2 change log has been copied directly from Apple’s official over-the-air Software Update section for the new firmware:
Fixes and Exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life.
It was previously believed that 6.1.2 would also be issued to correct the iOS 6.1 lock screen security issue, instead of for the sole purpose of addressing the Exchange calendar bug.
On a related note, planetbing (a prominent member of the evad3rs dev team) confirmed that iOS 6.1.2 doesn’t patch the evasion jailbreak exploits on the Wi-Fi iPad mini and iPhone 5. As stated, due to limited testing capabilities at the time of his tweet, planetbeing has been unable to definitely confirm support for other devices, “but it’s looking good for 6.1.2″. That being said, the evad3rs must still test additional devices and update compatibility for evasi0n to jailbreak 6.1.2.
Not yet able to test all devices, but it’s looking good for 6.1.2. iPad mini wi-fi and iPhone 5 are still jailbreakable.
