Apple Seeds iOS 6.1 beta 4, Tethered Jailbreak Upon Public Release
Apple Seeds iOS 6.1 beta 4 to developers - Yesterday, only two weeks after seeding the third iOS 6.1 beta to registered developers, Apple has issued iOS 6.1 beta 4. While the 6.01 beta 4 IPSW firmware file is available for download through Apple’s iOS developer portal, those who are currently on a previous 6.1 beta build can easily update to the fourth beta via iOS’ built-in OTA (over-the-air) update feature.
The build number has also changed from the third beta’s identifier of 10B5117b to 10B5126b, which suggests revisions, changes and modifications.
Similar to the first three versions of 6.1, the fourth beta provides iOS developers with an app implementation method for Apple’s iOS 6+ in-house mapping solution, brings minor changes to Safari and improves the Passbook app’s management system for boarding passes.
In addition to iOS 6.1 beta 4, Apple has also released the latest beta 3 firmware for the Apple TV and Xcode 4.6 developer preview 4.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any additional news regarding the status of an UnTethered jailbreak for iOS 6, 6.0.1 or 6.1. However, once the firmware is publicly released, we’ll write post our usual in-depth Tethered jailbreak tutorial via Redsn0w, which will only encompass the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the 4th Generation iPod touch.
