Apple Releases 6.1.1 For iPhone 4S, Evasi0n Jailbreak Update in Development
Apple Releases 6.1.1 For iPhone 4S, Evasi0n Jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 Update In Development - Following last week’s release of iOS 6.1.1 beta 1, today Apple released their new 6.1.1 firmware to the public. The update, which is exclusive to the iPhone 4S, was issued to address a bug that significantly reduces the battery life of the iPhone 4S when running over a 3G cellular data connection. iOS 6.1.1 is on the smaller side of iOS updates, coming in at a measly 23MB for the over-the-air (OTA) upgrade - the build number for 6.1.1 has also been updated to 10b145.

The following iOS 6.1.1 “change-log” has been taken directly from Apple’s official OTA update section for the new firmware:
About iOS 6.1.1 Software Update
This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S.
Surprisingly, the revisions implemented in last week’s beta aren’t present in the public release of 6.1.1 - the update appears to have been issued for the sole purpose of correcting the cellular performance bug mentioned above. Furthermore, because the two firmwares are entirely different, Apple will push the 6.1.1 beta to the next version of iOS, likely 6.1.2.
Apple released 6.1.1 for the 4S only today. The JB still works fine. We will release an updated evasi0n that recognizes it as supported.

Following the release of 6.1.1 beta, MuscleNerd confirmed that the evasi0n jailbreak exploits weren’t patched by the new firmware and although the public release is clearly different from the beta, planetbeing has assured jailbreakers that 6.1.1 still doesn’t patch the jailbreak. The evad3rs will work to update evasion to recognize and jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 for the iPhone 4S.
