Alleged iPhone 6 Images, Said To Be Leaked From Foxconn, Highlight Larger Design

Purported iPhone 6 Images Said to be Leaked from Apple’s Manufacturing Partner - Today, following our recent post regarding iOS 7.1, the firmware’s jailbreak status and the numerous scams claiming to jailbreak 7.1 UnTethered, a new set of purported leaked iPhone 6 rear housing images have begun making the rounds on the blogosphere. The pictures in question were posted on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging site that’s notorious for “leaking” components of various devices, sometimes said images are more reliable and authentic than others) and are claimed to originate from Foxconn, one of Apple’s manufacturing partners. Could these new images really foreshadow the next major iPhone refresh?

Naturally, as with other leaked components from years past, the latest images in question are grainy, low-resolution and feature poor lighting. Nevertheless, the re-captured pictures from a computer monitor shouldn’t be dismissed so abruptly, as these conditions are typical of early leaks.

The rear shell could very well be in alignment with recent rumors surrounding the iPhone 6, which suggest the device will likely feature a 4.7-inch display. While there have also been reports that suggest the iPhone 6 will come in a second, 5.5-inch variation, it’s likely the casing in today’s “leak” more closely matches the 4.7-inch size - although it’s hard to properly substantiate the measurements due to the poor image quality.

Furthermore, the apparent schematics in one of the images are of little help, as they don’t appear to highlight the raw measurements of the device. Also, the front of the supposed device is clearly absent from this latest set of pictures - however, other rumors have suggested that the iPhone 6 may sport an edge-to-edge design.

With that said, keep in mind that we’re still months away from Apple’s official iPhone 6 announcement and that nothing is confirmed until Apple reveals their next flagship iPhone on-stage.
